THE COMMITTED RESTAURANT LABEL
In February 2019, the Department of the Environment launched the Restaurant Engagé label for restaurants and takeaways. Like the Committed Commerce label, the Committed Restaurant label aims to highlight the good practices already implemented by restaurant owners in the Principality of Monaco. The reduction of plastics, waste sorting and the fight against food waste are at the heart of this approach. The label will be rolled out by the Commerce Engagé team and partner organisations will receive personalised support.
Since 1 October 2020, those awarded the label have been geolocated using the YourMonaco tool.
THE "MR GOODFISH" LABEL
Mr.Goodfish is a European programme designed to raise public and professional awareness of sustainable seafood consumption. The Mr.Goodfish logo is a benchmark for all consumers. It can now be found in France, Spain, Monaco, Italy and soon in other countries. The aim is to alert the entire fishing industry and consumers to the fragility of our marine ecosystems by proposing simple, positive solutions. If every French person ate a species recommended by Mr.Goodfish just once a year, 18,000 tonnes of threatened species could be saved.

VEGANS AND VEGETARIANS
Plants offer a multitude of flavours that just need to be combined to make delicious dishes.
Varied and diverse, vegan cuisine is booming. The creative possibilities are endless, and almost any dish can find its equivalent in plant-based cuisine. What's more, vegan and vegetarian cuisine is renowned for having a smaller carbon footprint, so you can reduce your impact on the planet.
To cater for all diets and environmental concerns, many restaurants in Monaco offer vegan and vegetarian options(see the list).
A COMMITTED GOURMET RESTAURANT
Restaurant Elsa, on Monte-Carlo Beach, is a gastronomic restaurant with a strong sustainable approach through its actions in favour of biodiversity. A very rigorous selection of food and wine producers is carried out, as well as the use of local and seasonal products.
The Monte-Carlo Beach is a signatory of the Pacte National pour la Transition Energétique and the Label Restaurant Engagé.
THE MONTE-CARLO BAY& RESORT ORGANIC GARDEN
Sustainable development is also present in the kitchens of the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort thanks to Chef Marcel Ravin, who prepares fruit, vegetables and plants from the hotel's 400 m² organic vegetable garden, managed by Terre de Monaco. The Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort is a signatory of the Pacte National pour la Transition Energétique (National Pact for Energy Transition) and is one of the TripAdvisor Ecoleaders.

MONACO TAKES ACTION AGAINST FOOD WASTE
Since 2013, the Principality has been actively involved in the fight against food waste and has carried out a number of initiatives with institutions and professionals.
One of the flagship initiatives of the "MEG - Monaco s'engage contre le gaspillage" collective is the introduction of "La Petite Boite" (the Monegasque term for the Doggy Bag!). Available from partner restaurants, all you have to do is ask for it to collect unfinished dishes and bottles at home.
