Bitumen
Between April and June, Monaco goes into single-seater mode! The Principality's tarmac, having been thoroughly combed over the preceding weeks, becomes the centre of attention. Every year, the eyes of the world converge on Monaco for the legendary Formula 1 TAG Heuer Grand Prix de Monaco. A legendary track, now used by Leclerc and co at the beginning of June. In May, it's the electric single-seaters of the Formula E championship that race at top speed on Monaco's tarmac at the Monaco E-Prix. And every two years, the past, present and future meet in the streets of the Principality thanks to the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique , a unique sporting interlude.
Every October, electric cars take to the roads of Monaco and the Côte d'Azur as part of the E-Rallye Monte-Carlo. The aim is to climb the iconic mountain passes in the hinterland at a steady pace throughout.
Fresh water
The Stade Louis II is not just a legendary football pitch, an athletics track of international stature or a modern, functional basketball hall... It also puts freshwater in the spotlight! The sports complex also boasts an Olympic-size swimming pool. Every year, the Centre Nautique Albert II hosts the Meeting International de Natation de Monte-Carlo , a major competition that brings together the world's swimming elite and has been part of the Mare Nostrum Swim Tour since its inauguration in 1994. In 2025, the 42nd edition welcomed 300 swimmers from 46 countries. Among them? more than 55 Olympic, world and European medallists.
Sea
The sea occupies a special place at the heart of the Principality's DNA. As well as its history, which is closely linked to the sea, the competitions held off the coast of Monaco throughout the year and the Yacht Show organised every September, every two years the City-State sees more than a hundred traditional sailing yachts and vintage motor yachts set sail. The Mediterranean is then decked out in its finest finery thanks to Monaco Classic Week in September. This biannual event brings together heritage and elegance for three days of festivities on the Mediterranean.
Snow
While the glitz and glamour of Formula 1 racing attracts the world's attention in fine weather, the Monte-Carlo Rally takes place on snow-covered roads in winter. Since 1911, the Principality and the roads around the Côte d'Azur have been the scene of events where it's not unusual to see cars glide with ease over the legendary passes inland, covered in freshly fallen snow. Following on from this, the Rallye Monte-Carlo Historique stands out for its elegance and authenticity. It takes even more skill and confidence to drive cars that took part in the Monte-Carlo Rallies between 1911 and 1983. This race is a veritable ode to nostalgia written in the present tense.
Parquet
Football may be the king of team sports in Monaco, but basketball is still making waves. For the last ten years or so, the Principality has regularly gathered around the floor of the Salle Gaston Médecin, nestled in the Stade Louis II, to watch the exploits of AS Monaco Basket. A historic club that played in the top flight from 1950 to 1991, the 'Roca Team' made a real comeback in 2015. The club's return to the big leagues means that between October and May, it is an official supplier of excitement for domestic matches, as well as for European games in the Euroleague, with plenty of hot action on the programme.
Turf
The club with the Diagonal needs no introduction... AS Monaco Football Club , accustomed to topping the league throughout its long history, is also no stranger to high-stakes European matches thanks to its numerous appearances in the Champions League. Since its inauguration in 1985, the pitch at the Stade Louis II has been trodden by some of the world's greatest footballers. From the "Legends Box", the "Munegu Family" tribune or the curves, locals and visitors alike can support the club in all circumstances.
Sand
Monaco lives to the rhythm of the clogs as the days turn warm and sunny! The Principality puts sand to good use to make every moment as soft and pleasant as possible. Between the prestigious yachts of Port Hercule and the Prince's Palace, the stage of the Longines Global Champions Tour unveils its dream setting and its exceptional line-up for great moments of sporting emotion. At the end of June, the world's best riders meet in the heart of a unique setting at Jumping International Monte-Carlo.
Tartan
Every summer, the Principality is in the starting-blocks! In July, the tartan track at the Stade Louis II becomes the focal point for sports fans. For 35 years, the international Meeting Herculis EBS has welcomed Olympic, world and national champions, all ready to do battle and win in the Principality. The summer sports event is one of the most eagerly awaited dates in the Diamond League, often promising great performances and summit confrontations.
Clay courts
Clay... a surface like no other, where every year the best players on the planet take light, airy strides. The elite of the small yellow ball meet up every April in the unique setting of the Monte-Carlo Country Club. Considered to be one of the oldest tournaments, the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters is also the first ATP Masters 1000 tournament of the season to be held on clay, all in a prestigious setting overlooking the Mediterranean. It's an opportunity to experience great emotions in privileged conditions.
