Voyage au fil du timbre" exhibition

Through a remarkable selection of more than 180 postage stamps, and a rare postal document dating from 1870 on exceptional loan from the Prince's Palace, the "Voyage au fil du timbre" exhibition takes visitors on a journey through time and space, tracing the great transport revolutions that have revolutionised our societies.

From the first messengers travelling the roads on foot or on horseback to the most modern technologies, the exhibition reveals human ingenuity in constantly pushing back the limits of distance, speed and communication.

These philatelic testimonies are veritable fragments of history, telling the story of the profound changes in transport networks and the upheavals they have engendered in the circulation of ideas, the development of trade and social links.

A special section is devoted to the evolution of the leisure and racing car. Through the presentation of emblematic racing cars, it traces the technical and aesthetic transformations of these vehicles from their creation to the present day, bearing witness to the enduring fascination with speed, performance and the spirit of independence that motor racing embodies.

Along the way, visitors will discover how the history of transport is reflected in philately, offering a cultural, technical and artistic perspective on the human adventure. An invitation to explore, dream and travel in a different way, to be discovered until 27 September 2026 at the Musée des Timbres et des Monnaies.
