The New National Museum of Monaco presents the exhibition: ‘Victor Brauner: The Magical Adventure’

With exhibition design by Christophe Martin, ‘Victor Brauner, L’Aventure magique’ shines a spotlight on an artist whose body of work – as unique as it is prolific – remains largely undiscovered.

The exhibition brings together over 160 works – paintings, drawings and sculptures – spanning the artist’s entire career from the 1920s to the 1960s, all drawn from an exceptional private collection based in Monaco. The exhibition is complemented by ten objects of non-Western art that belonged to Victor Brauner, on loan from the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Saint-Étienne Métropole.

Influenced by the Romanian avant-garde, his encounter with André Breton, mythology and esotericism, Victor Brauner developed a unique visual universe in which the fantastical, the marvellous and the symbolic interplay in a deeply personal body of work.

“The exhibition dedicated to him in Monaco aims to share the magical journey of this great artist with as many people as possible, through a unique private collection showcasing some of the most singular and spellbinding works of the 20^th century,” says Camille Morando, the exhibition’s curator.
