The official inauguration of New Moods in Monaco
The intimate inauguration took place in the presence of Thomas Brezzo, President of the National Council, and Georges Marsan, Mayor of Monaco. Official guests and institutional guests from Monaco were welcomed by Stéphane Lobono, Director of the establishment, Frédéric Darnet, and Chef Marcel Ravin for this official inauguration, prior to the public opening on 5 December. The event was charged with symbolism and emotion, as the former Moods had left its mark in the Principality in just three years of operation, from 2008 to 2011. The Chairman and CEO of SBM had promised to bring the establishment back to life when he took over as head of the Group. The promise has been fulfilled. New Moods is therefore the revival of this legendary venue, featuring a new décor and a new formula, ready to rock the Principality.
It was an emotional Saturday evening in Monte-Carlo
Following the switching on of the magical illuminations on Place du Casino, another eagerly-awaited light was lit, this time that of the new stage at New Moods.
It is with some emotion that I speak in front of you tonight, as you know how much this project to bring back Moods means to me and to so many residents and lovers of the Principality.
The Chairman and CEO of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer took this opportunity to pay tribute to Jean-René Palacio, with the wife and daughter of the late Artistic Director of SBM looking on emotionally. It was Jean-René who had imagined this new concept of evening entertainment, back in 2008.
This New Moods, like the first, is the result of teamwork, with a new positioning to ensure its long-term viability and performance for the benefit of Monte-Carlo and the resident population, as well as our visitors. This symbolic venue for the community of Monaco, which is also destined, of course, for the clientèle of our hotels, will, as you know, be directed by Stéphane Lobono, with the artistic programming in the hands of Alfonso Ciulla, our Group's Artistic Director. In addition to live music, the programme will evolve towards stand-up.
After unveiling the inaugural plaque, and the souvenir photo in front of the guitars of Jean-René Palacio, H.S.H Prince Albert II and H.S.H Princess Charlène symbolically relit the light that had been switched off for 12 years. The bulb was handed over by Stéphane Valeri and Stéphane Lobono, and the magic took place. All the stage lights were lit up, officially marking the rebirth of this legendary Monegasque night spot, to palpable joy and applause.
The evening then began to the notes of the Rolling Stones, played by La Tribu, the very first group to perform on this new stage. With a festive and energetic musical set, Signature cocktails and specialities by Chef Marcel Ravin on the Finger Food menu, the evening brought the spirit of Moods back to life, version 2024.
It set the tone for the official public opening, taking place on 5 December.
New Moods: the spirit of Moods in a new setting with a new formula
The industrial style of the first Moods has given way to a muted décor with velvet and mirrors, worthy of the finest performance venues. This cosy venue, with 134 seats in front of the stage, almost on the same level, as well as on a mezzanine, aims to be affordable.
In fact, there are no entrance tickets for this concert hall. New Moods is the place to go to enjoy a concert or a stand-up show, while sipping a drink and tasting the specialities by Chef Marcel Ravin. For 50 euros (minimum spend from 8pm), you can watch a show as you dine, in a unique setting in Monaco.
Shows take place from Thursday to Saturday inclusive, from October to the end of March. The programme is organised by Alfonso Ciulla, Artistic Director of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer. It is a complementary offer to that of the Monte-Carlo Summer Festival and the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival. The complementarity of the festive offer in the low season and the appeal of Monte-Carlo are at the heart of this rebirth.
Note that the new formula of New Moods can be entirely privatised, for a private or corporate event, outside opening nights.
