The Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo is embarking on a new chapter

As part of the refurbishment programme launched in 2024, the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo has just unveiled 40 new rooms and suites, including seven designer apartments forming part of the Monte-Carlo Diamond Suites collection, and a brand-new bar, Gustave, in the heart of the hotel’s Winter Garden, beneath the famous Eiffel dome.

A collaborative design for prestigious suites, now enhanced

Created in 2004 to mark the Hotel Hermitage’s extension across two new floors, the Hermitage Apartments have just been completely enhanced by their designers: the Pierre-Yves Rochon architectural practice and the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer’s Design and Planning Department. A collaborative effort, orchestrated by Luc Leroy, Director of Construction and Built Heritage at the SBM, and Stéphanie Rainaut, Head of the Research and Design Department, who called upon Pierre-Yves Rochon and Karine Bouaziz, Artistic Director of the Pierre-Yves Rochon architectural practice, which first worked on the project 22 years ago. Together, they have breathed new life into the original spirit of these seven luxury retreats, designed as apartments, both in terms of their spaciousness and their high-end amenities.

Bathed in southern light and overlooking the Mediterranean Sea, these new prestigious suites, part of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer’s Diamond Suites collection, offer their guests a contemporary interpretation of the Belle Époque art of living. Versailles parquet flooring, bathrooms adorned with Calacata marble and inlaid floors, Auberley & Laurent mouldings, fine carpets and fabrics, and botanical motifs create a delicate and soothing atmosphere, enhanced by a palette of soft tones – aqua green, blue or beige.

Highlights of this new collection of suites include the Diamond Princely Suite and the Diamond Presidential Suite.
Spanning 283m², the Diamond Princely Suite is designed as a prestigious residence overlooking the Mediterranean. It captivates with its generous proportions, elegant décor and three 15m² terraces, offering breathtaking views of the Port of Monaco and the Prince's Palace. Designed for entertaining, the lounge features a spacious sofa, signature armchairs, a library corner and a study area. It flows into a dining room that can seat up to eight guests.
The master bedroom opens onto a spectacular bathroom. Bathed in light, this space, clad in white onyx, features a superb freestanding bath with hydro-massage jets and chromotherapy, a sauna and a hammam shower. The ‘Pétale de Cristal’ taps in Baccarat crystal and the ‘Les Perruches de Lalique’ wall lights, designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon, add the ultimate touch of refinement. A second bedroom, bathroom, walk-in wardrobes and a kitchenette complete the suite. Guests will also appreciate the private access points for the butler, ensuring service is provided with the utmost discretion.

The Diamond Presidential Suite has been designed as a private 151m² apartment , opening onto two terraces measuring 15m² and 5m² overlooking the harbour, opposite the Prince's Palace. This suite, equally captivating for its architecture, spaciousness and refinement, is organised around a central lounge, a space for entertaining and relaxation. The sleeping area features two bedrooms. Ultimate well-being is ensured in the two bathrooms, which boast exceptional finishes: a spa bath facing the sea, a Calacata Oro marble shower with grey and gold veining, a wall-mounted waterfall feature, and mosaic flooring resembling a carpet of sculpted petals.
Located on the 7^th and top floor of the Hotel, these two suites can be connected on request to create a 434 m² space, accommodating up to eight guests, with four bedrooms, four bathrooms with walk-in wardrobes, two lounges, a study and a dining room.

Gustave, the Bar at the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo

Also featured in this chapter is Gustave, the bar at the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo. It is in the Winter Garden, beneath the iconic ‘Eiffel’ dome, that this new venue has just opened its doors to lovers of cocktails, champagne and fine dining, in a truly bourgeois Belle Époque-style lounge. Designed by interior architect Shirine Zirak, Gustave spans five areas, including a brand-new terrace. With its chequered stone floor, wrought-iron furniture and an abundance of plants to adorn it, the terrace echoes the spirit of the Winter Garden of yesteryear, where greenery was a constant feature of the décor, even adorning the mouldings. Designed in the style of an 18^th-century drawing room, where one can take one’s time, converse or daydream, Gustave invites you to relax. From midday until 1 am, whether for lunch, dinner, a gourmet break or a cocktail – with a special focus on forgotten spirits – Gustave is the new meeting place for connoisseurs. The menu of signature cocktails, inspired by Art Nouveau and the great Parisian cafés, is the brainchild of Head Bartender Julien Lecharpentier.
With this new venue and its new Suites, Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer is preserving and enhancing its heritage, of which the Hôtel Hermitage Monte-Carlo is one of the icons. The story continues with a new chapter set to begin in spring 2027.
