The Casinos de Monte-Carlo have received the highest honour at the 2026 European Casinos Awards
2026 could not have got off to a better start for Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer and its casinos. From 18 to 21 January, a 17-strong delegation from the Group travelled to Barcelona for ICE, the prestigious annual gathering of gaming industry professionals. It was on this occasion that the European Casino Awards ceremony, organised by the European Casino Association (ECA), took place on 19 January, during which all the hard work carried out by the teams at the Casino de Monte-Carlo and the Casino Café de Paris was recognised.
Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer was awarded the highly coveted Best Overall Casino prize: an accolade that recognises a casino’s overall excellence based on several criteria, such as the quality and variety of games on offer, the user experience, customer service and player safety.
Criteria that have been rigorously applied by the Monegasque Group’s two casinos since the founding of the Casino de Monte-Carlo in 1863. A true symbol of the Principality on the international stage, combining the thrill of gaming with sumptuous salons that have even served as film sets, the Casino de Monte-Carlo has, for over 162 years, continued to uphold the Monte-Carlo legend. In 2025, the venue even saw visitor numbers rise by 8%* compared to the previous year. At the same time, visitor numbers at the Casino Café de Paris rose by 7% over the same period. Established in 2016 and boasting nearly 400 state-of-the-art slot machines, the Casino Café de Paris has, for ten years now, the adrenaline and excitement of a modern, offbeat Monte-Carlo, offering the largest selection of slot machines on the French Riviera and spectacular entertainment throughout the year. Its upcoming renovation, due for completion in spring 2027, will provide players with an even more modern and innovative gaming venue. - *From 1 January to 13 October 2025
The rich history and heritage of the Casino de Monte-Carlo, combined with the unique entertainment and gaming experiences of the Casino Café de Paris, make the Place du Casino a unique and increasingly attractive destination for tourists from all over the world; the My Monte-Carlo loyalty programme also recorded an 89% increase in new players in 2025, compared with the previous year.
A unique gaming offering further enhanced in 2025
The year 2025 was indeed marked by major events at the Casino Café de Paris, which notably hosted the European premiere of Aristocrat Gaming’s new Phoenix Link slot machines at the start of the year. The arrival was celebrated with a spectacle featuring 500 drones flying over the Place du Casino. In June, the famous gorilla King Kong took over the venue during an opening event co-organised with Light and Wonder, where dancers, acrobats and the Lucky Wheel transported players to the heart of the jungle. Guests were also able to travel to the four corners of the globe last September during a special evening featuring a host of entertainment, including dancers and themed cocktails. It was an opportunity for players to try their luck at winning one of the four trips up for grabs, to Kenya, Spain, Brazil or Japan.
For its part, the Casino de Monte-Carlo has further enhanced its offering, worthy of the Grand Art de Vivre, by opening its Monte-Carlo Cigar Club in May. It is in fact at the heart of the Casino de Monte-Carlo, in the former office of François Blanc, founder of the Société des Bains de Mer, that this ultra-exclusive club now welcomes the most discerning cigar connoisseurs.
Casinos that regularly win awards
Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer regularly stands out in the gaming industry. For example, the Casino de Monte-Carlo received the Best Customer Service award at ICE Barcelona 2025, whilst the Casino Café de Paris won the title of Best Live Entertainment. That same year, both casinos were also recognised as Best Slot Team at the European Dealer Championship. The title of Best Overall Casino was also awarded to the Casino de Monte-Carlo at the Casino Awards during the ICE London 2022 trade show. In 2025, the Casino de Monte-Carlo also obtained ‘Green Globe’ certification, which recognises all the initiatives undertaken by the establishment in support of sustainable development, responsible gaming and the passing on of expertise.
I would like to warmly congratulate and thank Cédric Lorenzi, General Manager of Gaming, and all his teams at the Casino de Monte-Carlo and the Casino Café de Paris, for this magnificent Best Overall Casino award, which we have just received at the European Casino Awards, held recently in Barcelona. The efforts made day and night by all our staff in the SBM Gaming sector help to ensure that Monte-Carlo remains a leading centre for gaming on the international stage
