The Café de Paris Monte-Carlo switches to Spanish time

Live music, flamenco, tapas and other Iberian specialities: from 17 to 21 June, the Café de Paris Monte-Carlo brasserie will be decked out in yellow and red to mark ‘Spanish Week’. The week will feature a menu offering typical Spanish dishes, such as the “Pata Negra” acorn-fed Iberian ham platter, Paella mar, Pata de pulpo braseado and Entrecote de Vaca Rubia de Galicia madurada, created by the Café de Paris Monte-Carlo’s head chef, Victor Marion, in collaboration with chef Fernado Lopez.

As every year, the atmosphere will be convivial and, above all, musical, thanks to European Flamenco champion Jose Lucena, who will perform a flamenco dance show every day before the guests, alongside his dancers and the singer Alvaro Alcaidhe. And to complete the experience, a demonstration of Iberian ham carving will be given by Sandra Fernandés Santos, master carver of Iberian ham, for evenings that are ever more indulgent and festive.

A gala evening to mark 150 years of Iberian-Monegasque friendship

This traditional event, which began in 2009, takes on special significance this year, marking the 150^th anniversary of the Principality of Monaco’s diplomatic mission in Spain, established on 14 July 1876.

This anniversary will be celebrated on 20 June at 7.30 pm during a gala dinner at which Stéphane Valeri, Deputy Chairman of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, and Christophe Navarre, Operations Manager for the Princely Government’s Public Buildings Department, and the event’s creator and organiser, will host Her Excellency Ms Catherine Fautrier-Rousseau, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Principality of Monaco to Spain.

The menu will be created by Michelin-starred chef Albert Gonzales Margallo, head chef at the restaurant Le San Sebastián 57 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Finally, a unique collaboration with H.E. Ms Laura Calvo Borrego, Monaco’s Consul to the Balearic Islands, and Mr Francisco J. Doblas Gonzales de Aledo, future Consul of Monaco to the Canary Islands, will enable the guests of honour to discover iconic and traditional products from these two Spanish archipelagos.

Throughout the evening, films showcasing the Balearic and Canary Islands, as well as the richness of their local produce, will be screened to invite the public to discover these exceptional regions.

This Spanish gastronomic week takes place just two months before the Grand Départ of La Vuelta 2026, which Monaco will host for the first time in its history, from 20 to 23 August. The official presentation of the teams will take place on the Place du Casino on 20 August, making Monte-Carlo and the Principality of Monaco the setting for one of the biggest events in international cycling.
