Designed for people with disabilities, whether they require assistance or are independent, the scheme enables them to enjoy swimming in conditions that offer optimum safety, comfort and a warm welcome.
Introduced in the Principality over twenty years ago on the initiative of the Soroptimist Club, Handiplage is organised by the Department of Social Action and Assistance, which coordinates a team of six Handiplage staff.
Open from 29 June until 30 August, the site is equipped with four ‘tiralos’, an accessible shower fitted with a seat for people with reduced mobility, and two adapted sun loungers to enhance users’ comfort and independence. It is open to the public from 10.00 to 18.00 on weekdays, and from 09.00 to 19.00 at weekends. It should also be noted that a three-hour parking pass is available on request to eligible users.
This new season is part of the Prince’s Government’s ongoing commitment to improving accessibility in the Principality and to providing an ever more inclusive welcome for people with disabilities.
