Grace" exhibition #1 - Princely Palace of Monaco
Conceived under the joint eye of Natalia Mlodzikowska, Head of Exhibitions at the Collections Department of the Princely Palace of Monaco and General Curator, and guest curator Marie-Eve Mestre, this exhibition offers an intimate approach, far removed from clichés and fixed representations, to reveal the woman behind the icon: her nuances, her emotions, her quiet strength.
Spread over 90 m² in three rooms of the Palace, "Grace" #1 draws mainly on the collections and archives of the Princely Palace. Photographs, personal objects, jewellery and accessories tell the moving story of the woman behind the icon: a sensitive, brilliant, courageous and free figure.
The immersive scenography, conceived as a hushed setting, recreates an intimate and poetic universe. A velvet curtain, subdued lighting, a carpet to soften your footsteps... all combine to make this exhibition a precious interlude. Never-before-seen portraits in various formats stand alongside objects dear to the Princess: glasses, gloves, hats, and of course the famous Kelly bag by Hermès. A floral tapestry inspired by her passion for nature, accompanied by a rose fragrance and a soundscape of birdsong, completes this atmosphere of softness and elegance.
The exhibition is structured around four themes reflecting the many facets of Grace: the young woman au naturel, immortalised on the beaches of Jamaica; the elegant, discreet woman of everyday life; the loving, attentive mother; and finally the amateur photographer and film-maker, concerned to preserve the memories and precious moments of her family life.
Far from a chronological or exhaustive retrospective, "Grace" #1 is a sensitive and artistic exploration of a timeless figure, allowing visitors to approach the intimacy of the Princess while discovering the world through their own eyes.
