A new format for the 77th Croix Rouge Monégasque Gala

The Croix Rouge Monégasque: serving the most vulnerable since 1948

Founded on 3 March 1948 by Prince Louis II, the Croix Rouge Monégasque was recognised that same year by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). It is one of the 191 national societies of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and adheres to its seven fundamental principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity and universality. The Croix Rouge Monégasque’s mission is to assist the most vulnerable people impartially and without discrimination, to save lives and prepare the population for disasters, and to carry out humanitarian awareness-raising and prevention activities. It operates at both national and international levels. The Croix Rouge Monégasque was successively chaired by Prince Rainier III from 1949 to 1958, and then by Princess Grace from 1958 to 1982. Since 17 December 1982, it has been chaired by H.S.H. Prince Albert II, whose 40th anniversary as President was celebrated in December 2022.

A grand gala evening, combining elegance and generosity, returns for its 77th edition

Donors to the Croix Rouge Monégasque are expected from 7.45 pm in the legendary Salle des Etoiles at the Sporting Monte-Carlo, the setting for this two-part evening, in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II, President of the Croix Rouge Monégasque, and H.S.H. Princess Charlène, Vice-President. For this 77th edition, the Croix Rouge Monégasque Gala will also be graced by the exceptional presence of Kate Forbes, President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and Caroline Cross, President of the French Red Cross, highlighting Monaco’s recognised role within the global humanitarian network and the quality of the partnerships it has established.

The evening will begin with a gala dinner, created by three-Michelin-starred chef Marcel Ravin and prepared by Thierry Saez Manzanares, Head Chef at the Sporting Monte-Carlo, together with the kitchen and sommelier teams of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer. The dessert will also be created by Pastry Chef Cédric Grolet. This will be followed by a raffle featuring four prestigious prizes, culminating in the traditional fireworks display set off from the sea, just before the show.

On this occasion, and for the first time, the Sporting Monte-Carlo will offer a 360° immersive experience as soon as guests arrive in the lobby. After the dinner and show, the evening will continue at Jimmy’z Monte-Carlo, which will take on the atmosphere of a speakeasy featuring a jazz band.

SOUL! Where legends come back – a preview

Entirely produced by Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, and building on the success of its 2025 edition, SOUL! returns this season with a brand-new show, which will have its preview on 18 July for the Croix Rouge Monégasque Gala. A unique live performance tracing the history of African-American music, SOUL! celebrates its roots, its evolution and its lasting influence on global culture, drawing on the explosive sounds of rock ’n’ roll pioneers Chuck Berry and Little Richard, as well as the syncopated rhythms of funk. From the legendary voices of Ray Charles and Stevie Wonder to contemporary R&B led by Alicia Keys and Beyoncé, SOUL! combines tradition with innovation.

‘Eloge de l’Espoir’, a work by Johan Creten donated to the Croix Rouge Monégasque

In keeping with tradition, a work of art will be donated to the Croix Rouge Monégasque during the Gala. This year, it is the Belgian sculptor Johan Creten who is honouring the occasion with this fine act of generosity. Born in 1963, Johan Creten is a pioneer of the revival of ceramics in contemporary art. Since the 1980s, he has worked tirelessly with clay, developing innovative and masterful techniques. His famous allegorical sculptures, in bronze or ceramics, create a world filled with poetry, lyricism and mystery. On 18 July 2026, he will donate his *Eloge de l’Espoir* to the Croix Rouge Monégasque; a hand-modelled ceramic wall sculpture that fully embodies this vision through the powerful symbol of the Red Cross. Painted and glazed with a confident, free-flowing style, the red cross evokes the improvised emblems seen in war zones or disaster areas, where the urgency and power of the symbol take precedence over its formal perfection. Part of ‘Odore di Femmina’, one of Johan Creten’s most iconic series – exhibited notably at the Louvre and the Centre Pompidou – this piece conveys a sense of vulnerability, resilience and humanitarian strength deeply rooted in the values upheld by the Red Cross.
