The Monaco Grand Prix crowned Europe’s best event
The Formula 1 Louis Vuitton Monaco Grand Prix has received further recognition by being named ‘Best Event in Europe 2026’ by the tourism promotion organisation European Best Destinations. This accolade recognises the excellence of an event that has become a global benchmark, both for the quality of its organisation and for its international reach. For the Automobile Club de Monaco, this award recognises the expertise of its teams and the commitment of all those involved in making the Grand Prix an exceptional showcase for the Principality.
The start of the Vuelta a España in Monaco
Monaco, a cycling hotspot… This is all the more true given that the Principality hosted the final stage of the 2024 Tour de France. From 20 to 23 August 2026, it will be the Vuelta’s turn to set up camp in the Principality for its official grand departure. Following the team presentation on 20 August, the riders will set off on 22 August for a 9.6 km time trial through the streets of Monaco, before a second stage starting from the Prince's Palace on 23 August, heading towards France and the Côte d’Azur hinterland.
Armand Duplantis headlines the Meeting Herculis EBS Athletics Meeting
The Meeting Herculis EBS promises to be a moment that takes your breath away. Superstar and Monaco resident Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis is expected to attempt to break the world record for the pole vault once again at the Stade Louis II. The prodigy of world athletics will once again be greeted by a Monegasque crowd firmly behind him at this prestigious event. Tune in on 10 July to find out whether the Swede will set his 16th world record in Monaco, clearing a bar set at 6.32 m – or higher!
Triathlon returns to the Principality
From 6 to 8 November 2026, the Monaco International Triathlon is set to get the Principality buzzing. Nearly 3,000 participants are expected to take on the challenges in one of the two formats on offer: a 2,000-metre swim, 90-kilometre cycle and 20-kilometre run, or 1,500 metres, 40 kilometres and 10 kilometres. This triple challenge promises to be a spectacular event, as athletes will swim in the open sea, run along the Grand Prix circuit and cycle up the most beautiful mountain passes of the Côte d’Azur, enjoying panoramic views of the Mediterranean.
Monaco leaps into a new sporting event
The Principality is breaking new ground with a spectacular urban competition dedicated to the high jump. On 5 August, the Monaco Athletics Festival takes over the seafront with Mutaz Barshim’s ‘What Gravity’ concept. An immersive experience bringing spectators right up close to the athletes, which positions Monaco at the forefront of a new international sporting movement.
Red and white seats at the Stade Louis II
This is an announcement that many fans have been eagerly awaiting for some time. Gone are the legendary yellow seats; the Stade Louis II is set to switch to red and white , the iconic colours of the Principality and AS Monaco Football Club. This decision, taken as part of the stadium’s modernisation programme, will help to strengthen the venue’s visual identity. The new seats, which are more comfortable and partially retractable, will be installed by 2027, in time for the Games of the Small States of Europe.
