The Principality at the heart of the Côte d'Azur

Visit three countries in one day? It's possible from Monaco! Ten kilometres from the Principality, Menton reveals its colourful facades and pedestrian streets lined with shops and restaurants. Every year, the town comes alive with the famous Lemon Festival, an explosion of colours and scents celebrating this emblematic citrus fruit in spectacular settings. Italy is then within sight, and the seaside resort of Sanremo, with its lively markets and elegant charm, is the perfect stopover for a transalpine getaway on the Mediterranean coast.

To the west of Monaco, the Côte d'Azur boasts a string of legendary towns and villages. At Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild, nestling on a sublime peninsula, is an architectural masterpiece surrounded by nine magnificent themed gardens. Nice, with its Promenade des Anglais, is also home to the Musée Matisse, a vibrant tribute to the master of Fauvism, nestling in a setting of ancient olive trees. Antibes and its medieval old town are home to the Musée Picasso, where works by the famous artist interact with the striking panoramas of the seaside. Cannes, world-famous for its prestigious Festival, makes the Croisette shine with incomparable elegance and artistic effervescence. And of course, Saint-Tropez and its marina continue to amaze with their timeless charm.

Inland, the hilltop villages tell the story of an elegant and unspoilt Provence. La Turbie and its Roman past stand watch over Monaco, offering panoramic views of Monaco and the coast. Considered the highest coastal village in Europe, Sainte-Agnès towers 800 metres above Menton and Italy. A little further afield, Eze unfurls its cobbled streets and exceptional establishments overlooking the Mediterranean, while Saint-Paul de Vence, with its artist's soul, is home to the prestigious Fondation Maeght, dedicated to modern and contemporary art, in an enchanting natural setting.

The region also boasts a number of natural treasures. The Mercantour National Park and its Vallée des Merveilles - aptly named - reveal wild and fascinating landscapes. A veritable playground for sports enthusiasts, the Gorges du Verdon form Europe's largest canyon and offer a breathtaking change of scenery. Off the coast of Cannes, the Lérins Islands reveal a small paradise of crystal-clear waters and unspoilt flora and fauna for unique moments of relaxation. Finally, l'Estérel is an ochre-coloured massif plunging straight into the Mediterranean. An exceptional blend of colours for unforgettable water and land walks.

The Côte d'Azur can also be measured by its coastal paths. From Roquebrune-Cap-Martin to Cap d'Antibes, via Cap d'Ail and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, these signposted paths offer breathtaking panoramas in an unrivalled natural setting.

There's only one step from blue gold to white gold! Just an hour and a half's drive from Monaco, several ski resorts offer snow-covered slopes in a unique setting. Valberg, Auron, Isola 2000, Limone and La Colmiane offer unforgettable winter and summer experiences.
