88% of hotel rooms in the Principality have an international environmental or sustainable management label; 97% of hotel rooms are signatories to the Monegasque Pact for Energy Transition; 100% of certified hotels have "green teams", who are the main contacts for responsible tourism in the establishments.
Sustainable gastronomy
The1st Green Globe certified restaurant in the world is located in Monaco: the Café de Paris; more than 25 restaurants are members of the Mr Goodfish label for responsible fishing, and more than 40 establishments are taking part in the "Committed Restaurant" initiative.
A committed business tourism sector
More than 35,000 m² of exhibition and conference space has environmental certification; 70.1%: the score obtained by Monaco as part of the Global Destination Sustainability Index.
Visitor attractions and itineraries that promote biodiversity
The Oceanographic Museum, Monaco'snumber one visitor attraction, has been involved for over a century in scientific discovery and in raising public awareness of the importance of preserving species and the seas; 43 hectares of public and private areas representing almost 21% of Monaco's surface area; 930 heritage trees make up a unique itinerary for visitors and residents alike.
Soft mobility
80 public lifts, 37 escalators and 8 moving walkways make it easy to discover Monaco on foot; environmentally-friendly mobility solutions such as diester-fuelled buses, car-sharing (Mobee), electrically-assisted bicycle hire (Monabike) and boat buses.
Public authorities involved in more respectful tourism
The Department of the Environment runs sustainable development programmes, monitors air and water quality and promotes soft mobility; the Mission pour la Transition Energétique (Mission for Energy Transition) leads the pact for energy transition; Monaco City Council is involved in the fight against waste in all its forms; the Department of Urban Planning ensures compliance with the Tree Code and the management of green spaces.
