7 main new features in 2025

  1. Inauguration of Mareterra

Monaco unveiled its ambitious Mareterra project at the end of 2024, after eight years of work. Conceived as an extension of the existing coastline stretching from the Grimaldi Forum to the Formula 1 Tag Heuer Grand Prix tunnel, Mareterra will transform the Principality with an additional six hectares. The main features of this new area include a seafront promenade, a grotto revealing the heart of the structure, a relaxation area for meditation, green spaces, villas and apartment blocks, restaurants and the Quai du Petit Portier with its marina.

  1. Extension of the Grimaldi Forum Monaco

An emblematic player in the world of events and entertainment, the Grimaldi Forum Monaco (GFM) benefits from the ambitious Mareterra district. The Principality's congress and cultural centre is seeing its exhibition capacity increase by almost 50%, with almost 6,000 m² of additional space. The extension will enable the GFM to host larger-scale events, all with a view of the Grande Bleue from the Ravel terrace. A great way to celebrate the establishment's 25th anniversary!

  1. Monaco named world sports capital 2025

Monaco, city of sports! The Principality has been named World Sports Capital 2025. This is recognition for the dynamic sports policy pursued in this 2 km² territory and highlights Monaco's commitment to promoting sport. In addition to prestigious international events, Monaco promotes sport as a vehicle for peace and development, supporting top-level athletes and encouraging access to sporting policy for all.

  1. World Expo Osaka Kansai 2025

World Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai will be held from 13 April to 13 October 2025, with 28 million visitors expected. This international event is being held under the general theme of "Designing the society of the future, imagining our lives tomorrow", and the Principality has opted to focus on "Connecting lives". Comprising several buildings, the Pavilion will be surrounded by a garden of Mediterranean species and will highlight Monaco's environmental commitments.

  1. Reopening of the Jardin Exotique at the end of 2025

After several years of work, Monaco's Jardin Exotique will reopen at the end of 2025. This emblematic site, known for its unique collection of succulent plants and its breathtaking views, has benefited from a lengthy restoration programme. The reopening will include modernised facilities for a better visitor experience and the pathways have been redesigned for smoother, more comfortable access.

  1. Reopening of the Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo in May

The Hôtel Métropole Monte-Carlo has embarked on a transformation of its rooms and suites under the vision of iconic interior designer Jacques Garcia. The hotel, restaurants and spa closed on 2 December last year to offer guests an even more unforgettable experience from 2 May 2025.

Monaco has been voted best European destination 2025 by European Best Destinations, thanks to the votes of over one million travellers from 158 countries. This title rewards Monaco's commitment to the environment, its exclusive offer combining gastronomy, culture, well-being and shopping, and its subtle balance between tradition and modernity. This distinction also highlights the work of Monaco's tourism professionals and the recent renovations aimed at guaranteeing an exceptional experience.
